To address the issue of adolescents' overreliance on digital media such as smartphones and the internet, Seoul City and LIVESCAPE have created 'MAUMPOOL.' Following their implementation at Jeonil Middle School (2018) and Jungyi Girls' High School and Dongil Girls' High School (2019), these spaces have been additionally established at the Seoul Boramae Youth Center and Seoul Munrae Youth Center.
According to a study by Ewha Womans University School Violence Prevention Research Institute on the Jeonil Middle School case, significant results, including emotional stability and improvement in peer and interpersonal relationships, were observed through the 'MAUMPOOL.' Seoul City anticipates that the newly established 'Mindful Spaces' will help adolescents find emotional stability and address issues related to smartphone overdependence.
